One of the ways to build an automated forex trading robot is using MQL4. MQL4 stands for MetaQuotes Language 4. It is readily downloadable on the Internet and it is free! This course aims to help you build a trading robot on MQL4.

MQL4 is also known as MetaTrader4 or MT4. These terms are used interchangeably. MT4 allows you to build trading robots (a.k.a Expert Advisors) that can automate your trades, buy/sell entries with stop losses etc using your own rules. 

MT4 also allows you to build your own Indicators on top of providing the commonly used existing ones like MACD, SMA etc.   

To start writing MT4 programs, download the Metatrader application for free. You can download it at http://files.metatrader4.com/mt4setup.exe

With it, comes the MetaEditor which is an editor for you to write MT4 codes for your EAs.

Click on F5 to compile your programs and generate an ex4 file which is the file type for a MT4 program, like how .doc is the file type for Microsoft Word.
